Help a sister Out?

I'm looking for some good cover songs.
Any suggestions?

  • There are lots of fun covers on the Stubbs the Zombie soundtrack. Fun stuff like "Lollipop" covered by Ben Kweller, and "My Boyfriends Back" done by The Ravonettes. Also, there is a really great tribute album to the Beatles "Rubber Soul" album called "This Bird Has Flown."

I made an all-cover song mix not too long ago. Here's a few:

-Bitches Aint Shit - Ben Folds
    -Guitar Man - Cake
-Gone Daddy Gone - Gnarles Barkley
-Walking in Memphis - Lonestar (I told you I was a redneck...)
    -These Days - Nico
-Making Plans for Nigel - Nouvelle Vauge
-We Will Become Siloettes - The Shins
    -Common People - William Shatner
-Yellow Submarine - The Sonshine Daydream (my favorite cover of this song...ever. I'll send it to you.)
    -Fools Rush In - UB40 (...)
-I Don't Know What to Do With Myself - The White Stripes

  • I second the majority of Emily's suggestions (mainly because I've only heard the majority of them) and submit to you the following-

The Longest Time by Me First And The Gimme Gimmes
    Hurt by Johnny Cash
    Halloween by AFI
Shopping Spree by Atom and His Package
I Fought The Law by the Clash
Take This Job And Shove It by the Dead Kennedys
Amazing Grace by the Dropkick Murphys
Boyz n' the Hood by Dynamite Hack
    Tainted Love by Shades Apart
Good Guys (Don't Wear White) and Stepping Stone by Minor Threat
One of These Days by Operation Ivy
Message In A Bottle by CoEd
Higher Ground by Red Hot Chili Peppers
Down With The Sickness by Richard Cheese
Build Me Up, Buttercup by Gob

Those are the only ones I could think of off the top of my head, but for what it's worth about 80% of Me First and the Gimme Gimmes catalog is golden.
